Creating the Firebird
When a client approached us with the words, "I want a statement ring bursting with colour to celebrate my latest promotion in the private bank," we knew we had to rise to the occasion. The challenge was clear: find the perfect starting point to make this commission a fantastic success.
Thus, the Firebird ring was born — a stunning creation that pushed us to our limits on every front. We embarked on a quest to discover designs and a style that symbolized a journey to success, all while seeking out matching coloured marquise sapphires to encircle a breathtaking 8-carat cushion-cut fire opal.
Our designers and workshop team were buzzing with excitement over this project. Not only did it demand precision in manufacturing, but it also took us on a stone-sourcing adventure spanning Europe, Asia, and beyond.
In the end, we turned to our most trusted gemstone supplier, who scoured Thailand to source and cut 9 marquise sapphires, each in a specific pastel hue. From red to blue, each stone was meticulously matched in colour, size, and cut — a feat we couldn't be happier with. As for the rare 8-carat fire opal, we journeyed all the way to Mexico to find the perfect gem.
Once in the workshop all of the matched gemstones and ‘hero’ gemstone - the fire opal were laid out in order to do a final check on size, colour and matching. Each element was then carefully handcrafted in 18ct gold, each stone individually set and then carefully put together and finally polished to get to the end piece - all with the intention of showing off the magnificent stones to best affect.
