Discovering the most brilliant gem-quality diamonds and gemstones is a treasure hunt like no other. We relish the pursuit, driven by our passion to find extraordinary stones that exceed expectations and evoke a thrilling sense of wonder.

A Diamond and Precious Gemstone Legacy

Chris Blacklock understands that the Blacklock reputation for diamond expertise has been built up over its 190 years. He makes it his utmost priority to build on this reputation, to source some of the world's most exciting gemstones and diamonds, which are used to bring Blacklock jewellery to life. From Argyle pink diamonds used within the Hawthorn collection to the exceptional Colombian emeralds in the Empower collection each stone is considered for its beauty, rarity and purity.

Sustainability Sourced Diamonds & Gemstones

Our approach to sourcing is always guided by a strong ethical commitment to sustainability. We only obtain stones from trusted sources with a proven record of ethical sourcing and traceability. We adhere to industry best practices and are dedicated to upholding the highest of standards. We ensure that all our suppliers, whether they provide precious metals or gemstones, are not part of a supply chain that exploits child labor, offers unfair wages, imposes unacceptable working hours, or negatively impacts the environment.

Blacklock Diamonds

A diamond is evaluated by its essential characteristics: cut, colour, clarity, and carat. However, we believe its true essence lies beyond these values. It requires a profound understanding or an intuitive 'feel' for the stone - a skill that has been passed down through generations of Blacklock. This expertise, honed through the handling and assessment of countless stones, is a privilege few experience.

At Blacklock, we find out whether a diamond has ‘life about it’, before unleashing it into the life of
its owner.

Brilliance 40

Drawing from our rich diamond heritage, the Brilliance 40 collection was inspired by the pure beauty of a diamond. We've always believed that a masterfully cut stone stands apart, sparkling brighter due to the precise alignment of facets that maximize total internal reflection.

For the Brilliance 40 collection, we've handpicked stones with the highest cut grade — triple Excellent — ensuring excellent cut, symmetry, and polish. This level of craftsmanship transforms rough stones into polished gems of exceptional quality.

The collection plays off this ideal, with a creative expression of precision facet alignment embodied through an elegant octagonal halo and bevelled edged shank with a perfectly cut diamond at the centre. A true celebration of the Blacklock love of a perfect cut diamond.

Coloured Diamonds

A coloured diamond is a geological rarity, formed through the remarkable convergence of elements, minerals, gases, pressure and heat. These gems are among the rarest of the rare, available in a spectrum of hues from yellow and green to pink and blue. Their extraordinary display of colour is so mesmerizing that seeing is indeed believing.

At Blacklock, we love using coloured diamonds, whether as the centerpiece of a piece or as accentuating smaller stones.

Gemstones

Coloured Gemstones

Coloured gemstones fire the imagination. So we source only the finest stones to inspire our designers to push the boundaries of their next creation. For us, what truly defines a beautiful gemstone is its colour. The depth of a blue Madagascan sapphire from the Bemainty mine is comparable to that of a Kashmir sapphire. It is this profound knowledge and expertise that maintains Blacklock's position as one of the leading fine jewellers in the UK.

Our recent collections push the boundaries and bring together beautiful stones that compliment each other whilst making a statement. Whether it's the deep blue sapphires and pink opals of the Serpentine collection or the radiant aquamarines of the Neo collection - we display these magnificent gems to stunning effect.

Precious Gemstone Expertise

Ralph Blacklock was a Gemmologist and keen advocate to introduce new varieties of coloured stones to the Blacklock repertoire in the 1980’s. Often ahead of his time, he remained steadfast in his pursuit. In 1988, his discerning eye identified a green crystal at an auction, which was later revealed to be a 10-carat emerald.

Master Jewel: Maelstrom

Chris Blacklock spent months on a quest to secure the dazzling Paraiba Tourmalines for this extraordinary Master Jewel. Working with our trusted gemstone dealer, we were presented with several treasures from the Paraiba region of Brazil for evaluation. Our meticulous selection process guarantees that each stone meets our high standards for colour saturation and clarity.

The chosen stones boasted the unmistakable neon blue hue, thanks to traces of copper, and shone with an incredible luminosity and intensity that set them apart from all others. In short, they were simply more vibrant!

Complementing the Paraiba Tourmalines, we also sourced stunning royal blue sapphires from Sri Lanka and "gin and tonic" diamonds from India, all meticulously matched to the design specifications. In the end, we ensured that this piece showcases some of the finest coloured gemstones and diamonds available. This piece of jewellery is truly a marvel to behold.
